Kaylen glanced around the foyer. She'd never been in such a large place before. Sure she'd seen plantation styled places along the bayou and outside of town but still it was a bit intimidating to be in a place like this. Rozz, had left her here for a moment as she went to find Gambit and the brunette was nervous.
What if he turned her away, refusing to help? What if he didn't think she could bring anything to the Resistance? So many things were running through her mind. So much rode on this. Reminding herself to take a moment to breathe, she took a few calming breaths. No, just wasn't an option. She couldn't fail in what she'd set out to do. Failing meant imprisonment or even death. Kaylen wasn't exactly sure which she prefered.
Having had been raised out in the open, she'd been a free spirit growing up. Going and coming as she pleased. And if the N.O. got a hold of her that would all end. If she couldn't live her life the way she wanted then what was the point. She wouldn't be someones puppet. A pawn in a game she didn't want to play. But at least then she had a chance of escaping. You couldn't escape or fight back if you were dead.
Well, hopefully things wouldn't come to that. Things went better when you had a group behind you...or a pack. Pack mentality was a large part of her. She didn't know why it seemed to be ingrained in her mind but it was. For some reason she just knew that she stood a better chance if she didn't go it alone. You either stood beside or stepped aside. That's how it went.
Feeling a little more confident, Kaylen rose to her full height. Of course she didn't look threatening or anything, that would be almost laughable for someone to fear the 22 year old. She was lithe looking and didn't look as if she'd be much help in a fight. But If you were confident and carried yourself that way than others would be confident in you. At least that was what her mother had always said. She could hear footsteps approaching and her head turned to where they were coming from. Now was the moment of truth, it seemed.
