James made his way slowly to the bedroom door and reached out turning the handle he gave the door a gentle push to open it slowly. Desiree was in the room if she was awake and not yet decent she could call out and warn him of that fact but Desiree had been out cold for two days, James didn't say much to anyone but he was worried about her. Hearing no shout for the door to remain closed James walked in and looked to the bed where Desiree lay. With a small sigh to himself he stepped in and closed the door without a single noise being made. Crossing the room he set the large bowl of water he was carrying down onto the bedside table. moving his hand to her forehead it still felt clammy, so James reached into the bowl of very cool water and took hold of the flannel taking it out of the water he wrung it out getting rid of the excess water.
Sliding his chair closer to her bed James softly ran the clothe across her forehead under her chin and around her neck. When he was sure he washed that area he took her left arm in his hands and ran the cloth over her skin. The heat of the south was hard enough for him to stand but Desiree had no means of cooling herself down in this state and she needed James to get rid of the slight layer of sweat, he had also only put a thin sheet over her body so she could be more comfortable. Finishing her left arm James dipped the cloth into the water again wrung it out and then washed her right arm before placing it back into the bowl. moving the hair from her face James told hold of the hand closet to him and held it in his own. He wanted her to wake up and he vowed to be here when she did that he never left her side. He simply sat in silence his hand holding her silently willing her eyes to open.

Desiree remained still as James put the rag on her forehead. She was aware of his presence. The young girl had been aware of it since day one that she had been asleep. It was what made her sleep easy. Desiree slept the entire time and not woken up from any dreams. Even though the exhaustion had made her sick, she was unaware of this. As James finished wiping her arms and took her hand, her eyes slowly opened.
Her head turned slightly, her eyes still halfway closed she coughed a little. Desiree squeezed James' hand a little. "James?" She whispered in taking a deep breathe. "Where...where are weh?" her red eyes gazed at him tiredly. She remained fairly still, her muscles aching quite a bit. "Are...are weh safe?"

James watched as she opened her eyes he said nothing allowing her to take it all in at her own pace after all what the pair had been through she needed to be brought out of her sleep state slowly. When she looked at him he gave a small smile as he put his hand on her cheek " Hey" his voice was just a little above a whisper in case she had a sore head, as he spoke he lightly brushed his thumb over her cheek. When Desiree asked where they were and if they where safe he nodded once " We are...we're in the south with the resistence its a safe haven for mutants its well protected I had a look around but we'll talk more about it later when you've rested more" he said in a soothing tone.Knowing that she wasn't fully well James took the fresh glass of water from the bedside table that had the straw in it and moved it towards her, "Don't try and sit up just drink you need to get your strenth up a little" He told her. James smiled at her glad for now that she was awake that was the first step but he knew she would have questions and he would answer them as best he could.

Desiree drank some of the water in silence. It was odd to her that someone was actually taking care of her. She had thought that once she reached the destination she was headed for that she would be on her own again. The entire time is had been hard for her to just keep going and it seemed all James had done was push and yell at most of the time. She remained silent though, not speaking after she was done with her drink. She was just so tired still. It was lik she had been asleep for ages but all she could do was sleep even more. Desiree knew very little about the Resistance as far as who was on the team. The NO would shove pictures in her face and most of the time she would be clueless, but those few times she knew, her mouth still remained shut.
After a few more hours of sleep Desiree woke up once more and slowly sat up this time. She was more than rested now. She didn't feel weak in the legs and her throat wasn't sore. She still had a bit of a headache, but knew that it would go away eventually. Desiree glanced at James. "Ah gotta walk aroun'...meh entire bodeh is stiff...." she said softly.

James watched as once again Desiree's eyes slowly closed, James was a little tired himself but as long as Desiree needed him he could handle it. He had very plainly seen the confusion in her eyes no doubt from the sudden change in his mood he would have to explain himself sometime about that, he had been mean because he didn't want her to stop finding her in that place made an unpleasant jolt flair in his heart, she had looked so broken that for half a second James had wondered if the young girl would not be better dead than live her life after what the New Order had done to her. Looking down at Desiree asleep once more James was glad he had saved her he liked her even when she had been a cheerful pain in the ass when he first came to the mansion.
A few hours later James turned to her when he heard her voice it was grainy and sore sounding, James Didn't believe that she should get up her body should have lay there and she could get strength to get up when she was used to being relaxed, but no one ever fought with a Le Beau and won with a small smile James nodded and slowly peeled the bed covers back he slid his left arm down under her legs to cradle them while the other rested on her back and he slowly pulled her towards his body. When Desiree was out of the bed he very slowly let go of her legs and eased her down to stand being asleep for so long and then suddenly wanting to walk around would cause her stiffness or even a light head so for her own good he kept an arm around her waist and looked to her "Better?" he asked as she had not said a word.

Desiree smiled at him. "Oui, ah'm fahne Jimmy. Y' don' gotta worry." In truth her head hurt a bit, but she wasn't about to tell him that. She wanted to be able to leave the room and if he knew..she would probably be put back into bed. "Ya ain't been here da whole tahme have ya sugah?" She asked worriedly. Lately she had been so tired that she would hardly talk, but after sleeping for a few days, she was almost back to her normal self, at least on the outside. The horror that she had been through before though stayed within. She told everyone she was okay, but it was still torture to live with what happened in her past.
She moved towards the door and turned back to James with a smile. "Ya gonna come wit' meh raght?" she asked still smiling. She appreciated James more than she would actually say. Desiree often yelled at him, and sometimes even insulted him. On several occasions she would swing at him, and not once had he ever told her to get lost. He had rescued her, he had protected and stayed by her side no matter what. She still could not completely understand why he would help her, but, she knew that she was beginning to feel more and more for him as time went on.
The young adult opened the door up. “Ah t’ink headin’ downstairs would beh bes’…does anehbodeh know dat we’re here…well..ah mean.. know..” She started. “Are..aneh of meh family here?” Desiree was worried the answer would be no. She had already witnessed her own fathers death. At the mere thought of it, Desiree’s face pale and tears formed in her eyes. No matter how many years had passed, the guilt she held was even greater. “Lets go outsahde……”

James gave an inward wince when he heard her call him Jimmy. James hated nicknames if anyone called him Jim jimmy or Jr it was a good way to lose a hand but Desiree was the one person who never took the hint and even stranger he never made her call him James. There was just something about her that James liked. When he was first forced to come to America all James wanted was to be left alone he would eat and sleep in the mansion but as far as group bonding went James made sure to be as far away from them as he could, but Desiree was there all the time asking questions about his life Japan his likes and dislikes. James had gotten angry at her and warned her more than once to leave him alone but she just brushed it off like it was nothing. Looking back on things he was glad she did keep pushing him James did not want to end up like his father was, a loner, and somewhere in the friendship James began to realize that he liked being around Desiree not because she forced her company but she had a way of making him laugh.
As she walked to the door James held his hands by his side but had them ready if she took weak or tripped over her own feet he looked at her when she asked her question "I can if you would like...I have nothing else to do" he told her honestly. When she opened the door and said that she felt like going down stairs "I can carry you down if you don't think you can go down them, the last thing any of us need is you falling and breaking a leg" he said with a very small smile. He moved out into the hall when she asked about her family and if anyone knew they where in James gave a small nod "Yes one or two know they seen me when I went to get food and your brother and sister are both here... and Izzy hes been in and out he tried to stay as long as I have but he saw a squirrel or something outside, he wants to see you as soon as your awake he should be around somewhere" he said with a small smile trying to raise her spirits he could guess why she was tearful.

Desiree looked at James as he offered to carry her down the stairs. "Sugah...ah can walk..but t'anks for the offer." she said brushing her hair from her face a bit. She had a lot on her mind and tried her hardest to push it aside, but it wasn't working at the moment. "Izzy's here?" She asked, her face almost immediately brightening up. Desiree hadn't heard news of her best friend until now, and it relieved her to know that he was here, safe. "He doin' okay, he wasn' too skinny was he? He betta beh eatin raght..." She rambled a bit as her thoughts went to the aussie boy she had known since childhood.
The teen took her time going down the stairs, making sure to take in the scenery around her. She did this where ever she went, it helped her get used to a place, and though she knew where she was now, it had changed a lot since the last time she had been there, which was awhile. "t'anks for stayin wit' meh beh da way" Desiree turned to James as she reached the bottom. "Ah lahke not wakin' up alone..." the cajun girl blushed a bit realizing what she said out loud.

James could see the life come back into her eyes when she spoke about Izzy, the two where like brother and sister anything Desiree needed Izzy would do for her yet the pair kissed one another on the lips from time to time something that bugged James. He was not in a relationship with Desiree and as far as he knew she had no desire to be in one with him but some where along the time he had known the young Cajun girl her annoyance had turned into sweetness the things she did that used to make him want to shout at her now made him laugh. He had hated America when he first arrived but she was the one to make his time bearable. When she suddenly rushed into a million questions James took and hand and lightly pressed it onto her mouth to stop hr talking " He is fine.....If anything he's putting on weight" James said as he slowly moved his hand away from her mouth.
As Desiree took to the stairs James stood one step below her he didn't have his arm outstretched but they where ready if she suddenly took weak which could happen. When she thanked him he waved a hand casually "Think nothing of it...We're friends and your a team mate isn't that what they do look out for one another...and besides I was not the nicest person to you on the way here so I feel like I owe you still" He said with the smallest hint of a smile.

Desiree smiled at James listening to him as he spoke. He was taking such good care of her, and she knew she had given him a lot of trouble coming back to the south. She let out a small laugh hearing him tease Izzy a bit and shook her head. That there she had missed. The two young men had been room mates in the mansion and now it seemed their friendship was a little stronger, though Desiree didn't know for sure.
"Ya don' owe meh nuthin'" Desiree told him. "If anything ah owe y', Jimmy, ya saved meh from dat hell...ya protected meh all da way down here and made sure ah got t' meh brother safely. Ya don't know how much ah appreciate what ya done, and...and ah wasn't da nahcest person, ah mean ah gave ya so much hell and ya put up with meh." A small smile on her face, she leaned up and kissed his cheek. "T'anks James."
