• Power |
Molecular Acceleration: Remy has the power to take the potential energy stored in an object and convert it to kinetic energy thus “charging” that item with explosive results. He prefers to charge smaller objects, such as his ever-present playing cards, as the time required to charge them is greatly reduced and they are much easier for him to throw. The only real limitation to this ability is the time required to charge the object. The larger it is the more time it takes. Most charging takes place through direct skin contact.
Enhanced Agility: Gambit's ability to tap energy also grants him superhuman agility and dexterity which gives him an added edge he has used to his advantage by developing a unique acrobatic fighting style.
Static Interference: Ability to create static, because of the charged potential energy always in his body, that shields his mind from detection and intrusion by even the most powerful telepaths. The shield has the added effect of destabilizing touch based powers.
Hypnotic Charm: Ability to "charge" the kinetic energy within a person's brain, allowing a subtle influence over any sentient mind. This power allows Gambit to compel others to believe what he says and agree with anything he suggests. More powerful minds have proven immune to Gambit's charm.
Toxic Transmutation: As Death, he has the ability to convert inert materials into toxic substances; for example, transforming breathable air into poisonous gases.
*Black Cards: While charging up a card as Death, the entire card goes completely black. Once it has been tossed at an opponent it will suck them in like a black hole – killing them instantly.
• Weapons | Cards, throwing spikes, extendable bo-staff
• Weaknesses | Remy is vulnerable to everything a normal human is: Diseases, fatal wounds, ect. Except now with Death in his body there is a possibility that diseases and plagues will not harm him anymore. He does not wish to be reminded of his past as it is something he wants to forget about. Another weakness of his is the great smell and taste of good down home cooking as he can't resist it.
Something else about Death is the fact that if a telepath attempts to probe Remy's mind and finds something else there it doesn't take much to pull Death out. The same goes for being under heavy emotional stress can result in Death taking over Remy's mind and body.
• Skills | Remy has extraordinary accuracy, but nothing compared to Bullseye, with throwing weapons. He is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, utilizing a mix of streetfighting techniques, acrobatics and savate. Another thing Remy is skilled at is speaking Cajun French, English and on occasions bad Japanese.
Remy is also a skilled fencer. He is also a master gambler and sleight of hand with card tricks. Thus making him an excellent card shark during plays with sneaky opponents or for showing off. Something else that should be taken noted is the fact he is an excellent Cajun cook.

• Height | 6'1”
• weight | 175 lbs.
• Hair color & Style | Brunette with long bangs in the front and drapes down a little past his shoulder blades in the back.
• eye color | Red on black
• Overall Appearance | The first thing anyone is bound to notice is his red on black eyes. His irises are pure red while the sclera is pure black, which he pretty much has no pupil. Beyond the eyes he was born with, Remy has shaggy brown hair and an athletic body. His skin is almost a flawless light tan tone but has some small cuts here and there from where he had been hurt before during his days in the Thieves Guild while he was training.
He is always seen wearing his brown trench coat and unique style black gloves. While he’s not out doing something in his armor -- such as stealing. Remy likes to kick back with light-weight work boots with a pair of faded dark jeans and a sleeveless black shirt underneath the trench coat. Or any other comfortable clothes he can find that is a bit laid back or stylish when needed.
His appearance doesn’t change much from his civilian attire. He keeps his brown trench coat with him that has playing cards and/or knives and/or throwing spikes tucked along the inside pockets, but he wears a suit of highly articulated light body armor that moves with his flexibility. His black gloves that cover his middle and ring fingers, but leave his thumb, index and pinky exposed.
To complete his look he wears knee-length metallic boots and a black headpiece that acts like a headband but continues down the side of his head to his neck that tucks into his light weight body armor; exposing his hair, face and ears. Sometimes he’ll carry around his telescopic bo staff to use during a fight.
As Death, Remy's appearance changes a bit drastically. His skin turns a coal black coloration and his hair turns pure white color. The only thing that stays the same is his red eyes.

• Favorite Color | Red – passionate, desire, love, strength, power, energy
Red-Orange - desire, sexual passion, pleasure, domination, aggression, and thirst for action.
Light Purple – romantic and nostalgic feelings
Black – power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery
• Likes |
• Dislikes |
• fears | He has a fear of failing a job when it comes to being a thief as he's the best. Losing the ones he cares about the most: e.g. close friends (X-men) and the one he loves, Rogue. The New Order mutilating and experimenting on old and young mutants behind closed doors.
• Goals/ dreams | To one day be rid of Death so he can be normal again without having to worry about changing back to what Apocalypse made him into. To get rid of the New Order and the registration act on mutants.
• Overall Personality | Remy can come off as the most romantic gentleman to any woman he comes across. Never one to say “I love you” unless he absolutely means it to a woman. However, that isn’t all that he is though. Being a natural trained thief, he’ll lie, cheat and steal when ever he can. So being brought up that way it’d be hard for him to automatically walk the straight line of a super hero if he plans to go that route down the line.
He is also considered headstrong and doesn’t take orders very well. This would tend to cause some conflicts if he didn’t want to do something and was forced to do it anyway. He tends to behave most cockily most of the time, especially against a favored rival.
Now there is a downside to when he is dating someone. If he really likes them, he’ll do just about anything to protect them. This means he tends to be a bit suicidal when the one he loves is in danger and captured by an enemy of his. Risking his life to make sure they’ll be safe in the end. So rational thinking that he normally uses during fights that cause him to strategize is thrown straight out the window.
As Death, Remy has been taught to state the truth. There is no beating around the bush with him in this state. What is on his mind will most likely be said out loud about anyone. Although he tends to fight for control within his mind to push Death back to be locked up as much as possible.

• Overall history |
Abandoned at birth due to his burning red eyes, the child who would one day become Remy LeBeau was kidnapped from his hospital ward by members of the New Orleans Thieves' Guild. These members referred to the child as "le diable blanc" - the white devil. They believed he was the child that had been prophesied to unite the warring Guilds. Soon after, Remy was placed in the care of a gang of street thieves who raised the child and taught him the ways of thievery.
When he was around ten years old, Remy attempted to pick the pocket of Jean-Luc LeBeau, then-patriarch of the Thieves’ Guild. Jean-Luc took the boy in off the streets and adopted him into his own family. As part of a peace pact between the Thieves’ Guild and their rivals, the Assassin’s Guild, a marriage was arranged between Remy and Bella Donna Boudreaux, the granddaughter of the head of the Assassin's Guild. However, Bella Donna's brother Julien objected to the marriage and challenged Remy to a duel. Remy killed Julien in self-defense, but he was excommunicated and banished from New Orleans in an attempt to maintain the nonaggression pact between the two guilds.
Remy wandered the world as he plied his skills as a master thief, aided by his mutant power to charge objects with explosive energy. He employed playing cards he charged with kinetic energy as his trademark weapon. At one point Remy had approached the master geneticist Mr. Sinister for help in controlling his powers. Sinister removed some of Remy's brain tissue to reduce his power levels, thus affording him a greater degree of control.
As a result, Remy was now in the geneticist's debt, and Sinister subsequently charged the thief with assembling the team of assassins called the Marauders. Remy did not realize that Sinister would employ the Marauders to massacre the underground mutant community known as the Morlocks. Seeing the horrific results of his actions, Remy attempted to stop the massacre but was almost killed by the Marauder named Sabretooth. However, he did manage to save one young Morlock girl who would one day grow up to become the X-Man named Marrow.
Eventually, Remy encountered Storm, a member of the outlaw team of mutant adventurers known as the X-Men. Storm had been transformed into an amnesiac child who had turned to theft as a means to survive. Remy helped her escape her enemy, the malevolent psionic entity known as the Shadow King, and they became partners. Later, when the X-Men's founder Professor Charles Xavier returned from a long period of traveling in outer space, Storm sponsored Remy's admission into the X-Men.
Remy soon fell in love with his fellow X-Man, Rogue, blessed and cursed with the ability to absorb other mutants' thoughts and abilities through skin-on-skin contact. The feeling was mutual, but the two soulmates were condemned never to touch. At one point, Rogue left the X-Men after she kissed Remy and absorbed a portion of his memories, learning of his role in the Morlock Massacre.
Remy was subsequently captured and brought before a mock trial held by Magneto, the mutant master of magnetism, then disguised as Erik the Red. He was summarily cast out of the X-Men and was abandoned in the frozen wastes of Antarctica. Starving to death, Remy made his way back into Magneto's citadel where he came upon the psionic essence of a dead mutant named Mary Purcell.
The wraith-like Mary bonded with him, allowing him to survive until he reached the Savage Land, a hidden jungle nestled in the icy wasteland. There, Remy struck a deal with the enigmatic being known as the New Sun. In exchange for passage back to America, Remy agreed to run errands for the New Sun.
Remy returned home and encountered the X-Men again when he attempted to steal the fabled Crimson Gem of Cyttorak for his new employer. He agreed to return to the team, mainly for his self-respect and for his love for Rogue. However, Mary began to threaten Remy and his friends if he didn't agree to stay with her forever.
When the X-Men finally found out about Mary, the wraith fled with Remy to her old hometown, where she tried to force him to merge with her and become a new type of hybrid lifeform. While Remy wrestled with her, Rogue charged in with a containment unit, which ultimately dispersed Mary.
During a trip back in time, Remy's powers were restored to their maximum potential by Sinister and he was able to utilize them to return to the present. Soon after his return, Remy served for a time as patriarch of the Thieves' Guild in his father's stead, as well as leading one of two teams of X-Men. Remy was also responsible for the unification of the Thieves' and Assassins' Guilds into the Unified Guild, of which he also served briefly as patriarch.
Meanwhile, the New Sun revealed his true nature after organizing an assassination game for a cadre of super-powered mercenaries with Remy as the target. When Remy took the fight back to the New Sun, he was shocked to learn that the New Sun was actually an alternate reality version of himself. In his own reality, the New Sun's kinetic charging powers had flared out of control, burning the world and killing everyone.
As a result, the New Sun hunted down and killed versions of himself in other realities to ensure that they would not repeat his mistakes. During their final battle, Remy burned out his enhanced powers to defeat the New Sun, ending his threat and returning his powers to their normal level.
Remy was later framed by mutant businessman Sebastian Shaw for the death of the Australian crimelord named Viceroy. With the assistance of Rogue, her team of X-Treme X-Men, and former Triad member Red Lotus, Remy was able to clear his name. Soon after, Remy became embroiled in the X-Treme X-Men's fight against an alien invasion of Earth.
He was captured and used as a power source for the invaders to open a portal that would allow their full invasion fleet to pass through and complete the conquest of Earth. The process was halted by the enigmatic villain known as Vargas, who plunged his sword into Remy's chest. Remy survived, but found that he had lost his mutant abilities. As a result, he and the also-powerless Rogue sought to live a normal life together and retired from the X-Men.
They soon got married after leaving the X-men and went south to start a new and more normal life together. It didn't take long for Rogue to end up pregnant with their first born son, Claude. Remy couldn't have been any happier in his whole life with starting a family with the woman he loves. A couple of weeks after Claude was born and able to travel, they took him to the mansion to show him off to the others. That's when Mystique decided to drop off her slightly older baby daughter, Alexis.
Remy knew there would be no point in arguing with Rogue on her taking this baby in. So, in the end, Claude wound up with having an older “sister” to play with and for them to get used to raising “twins” if Rogue ever did end up having twin children in the future. However try as they might, a normal life was not for them to lead as the pair soon became embroiled in the X-Treme X-Men's fight against the mutant predator Elias Bogan. After Bogan was defeated, the X-Man named Sage used her mutant ability to "jumpstart" Remy's mutant powers and he rejoined the team.
In an alternate future over 70 years from now in which the X-Man Bishop was born, Remy had become an aged figure named the Witness, so-called because he had apparently witnessed the betrayal of the X-Men by one of their own members. He was also thought to be the last survivor of the X-Men. Upon joining the X-Men himself, Bishop suspected Remy to be the traitor until he realized that Xavier's mind and Magneto's mind spawned the corrupt psionic entity known as Onslaught.
During Apocalypse's most recent bid for power, Gambit joined Apocalypse's side as the horseman, Death. Gambit believed that Apocalypse would be able to save the mutants, but he would be able to stop Apocalypse should he betray them.
As Death, Gambit attacked his lover Rogue and his former group X-Men. Cyclops arrived with The Avengers to stop Apocalypse and his Horsemen. Apocalypse finally lost, and seems dead for a while. Sunfire, Apocaypse's other Horseman rescued Death from battle and they escaped.
Afterwards they returned to take Polaris, who had also become a Horseman of Apocalypse only to find Polaris had been injured in the last battle and was now in a coma. Death and Sunfire lost the battle and were forced to run from the X-Base. Afterwards they discussed what will happen to them without Apocalypse. During their conversation, Mr. Sinister found them and they joined his Marauders.
As Death, Gambit regretted attacking Rogue. Sinister rescued him from his Death form, leaving Gambit feeling betrayed by the X-Men and indebted to Sinister. In the end, Gambit decided to stay with Sinister. The Marauders waited for the right time to attack the X-Men, with Gambit at the Marauders' side. During the battle, Mystique betrayed the X-Men and shot her step-daughter Rogue, Gambit's lover. They then took Rogue and ran. The Marauders had won the first battle.
After that, Gambit and Sunfire attacked Cable. Cable lost and was thought to have been killed by Gambit, but Cable was in fact not dead. The X-Men went to the Marauders for the baby where Wolverine injured Gambit, and learned the baby Messiah was actually with Cable. Upon learning the Marauders had no idea where the baby was, it was surmised Gambit assisted Cable in taking her.
When Bishop attacked Cable, Gambit rescued the baby, but as he returned to Sinister, he discovered Mystique killed him. Gambit felt as if he was finally free, and when Mystique used the baby to try to heal Rogue, Gambit saved baby again.
Professor X and Cable came to take child, so Gambit gave the baby to them. Rogue was healed, and even though she wanted to kill Mystique, she didn't. Rogue suggested that they move back south to continue to raise Claude and Alexis. Enough insanity for awhile was enough to want to go back to a normal life when they lost their powers.
It was about a year later when Rogue gave birth to their first daughter, Rosalie, after gaining control over her abilities. Remy was excited for his own daughter and had been trying to get Claude and Alexis to be as excited for an addition to their family. Alexis seemed a bit put off, which caused Remy to worry about her behaviour issues due to the fact Mystique had abandoned her a few weeks after being born.
At times it had been hard to control his temper over something one of the kids did, so Death wouldn't make a surprise appearance around them. Although Remy has always treated the children as equals – even while showing them a few easy moves here and there despite Rogue's protest with the youngest being too young. As the children got older, Rogue became pregnant again with his third and final legitimate daughter, Desiree.
Remy was always happy with all of his children. He only showed disappointment when they ended up getting into fights in school. It was fun when they all headed back up to New York for seasonal holidays to be with the other X-men and their own children. There was where they were accepted for who they are and not what they look like.
Shortly after Claude's tenth birthday, Bella Donna came to Remy for help. The Assassin's Guild and the Thieves' Guild were nearing war once again. Something that New Orleans couldn't possibly contain or handle. The resolution was swiftly decided to avoid the coming war. The first son of one guild was to be taken by the other to train in their own secret arts.
It was odd for Remy to think that his only son was to be taken to become a full fledged assassin. Yet he knew Claude was in good hands with Bella Donna – just like her son was in good hands with him and the Thieves' Guild. A life long process on keeping the Guilds at peace in the works.
A few years passed after the peace proposition on the two Guilds. Everything was going smoothly with the children, yet Alexis's powers were a problem until she learned to get them under control. One day Remy and Rogue decided to take the children on a trip to Xavier's for the weekend while Claude was off working with Excalibur.
That's when disaster struck! With no warning, the New Order attacked Xavier's mansion and attempted to kill everyone on the premises. Everyone had been worried with getting the children to safety that it was hard to keep their own guard up during the chaos. Remy had been trying to keep Death locked up in his own mind during the raid, but it was proving to be a much more difficult task than getting the children to the underground tunnels.
Remy couldn't find his youngest daughter. In the chaos of the attack, he had lost her to the crowd of rushing mutants. He knew she could hold her own, but it was only a matter of time before his daughter would not be able to go on. He searched through the tunnels until he found her as he predicted. Surrounded by the enemy. A small sense of pride rushed through him as he watched her fight off the invaders.
Remy worked his way through the crowd, trying to reach Desiree. He turned as soon as he reached her and began aiding the younger woman in her fight. Suddenly, a shot rang out in Remy's ears and suddenly, there was an intense pain in his shoulder. he had been shot as soon as he reached his youngest. Slight confusion formed on his face as he looked down at his blood soaked hand. He fell into his daughter's arms. He felt himself growing colder as he fell into darkness.
When he awoke, his vision was hazy. Voices and echos were familiar, but.. the faces. He couldn't place them. His mind was scrambled, unable to think of anything. They were too distant for him to understand. He slowly pulled himself up, pain screaming down his lithe frame. He looked around him at the dead bodies. He had to look.. had to make sure. Despite the pain, he looked through the bodies, trying to find Desiree. When her body did not appear, he found some semblance of hope in his fuzzy mind. He began walking towards the city. He had to find help.. had to find a hospital.
It didn't take him long to run into an old friend before blacking out in his friend's presence due to blood loss and pain. A week had passed since he had last known consciousness. He still wasn't sure why he was in New York City or what had happened to him. Remy's friend, Noa, had taken him back to his place instead of a hospital to patch him up and to give him safe haven. Noa figured was he had been attacked by the New Order, but couldn't explain why he was here since they didn't talk as much as they once did.
Months passed, but Remy still didn't feel like his old self with his memory gone. His wounds had completely healed, but he was not in the physical condition before the attack. Noa had been a great help with keeping him up to date on the New Order's actions with as much as he could gather. This didn't stop Remy with taking a deal to make sure his skills as a thief wasn't hindered with his down time.
The plan almost fell through as he was almost captured after his intended victim was tipped off of his plot. He made it out alive but severely injured. The injury to his left knee and right arm would have to be taken care of at a hospital. The doctors and nurses were paid to keep his visit quiet. (Damn it was good to be rich.) After breaking out two days later, Remy went to stay with Noa to finish healing once again.
Several years have passed since the attack on the Xavier's mansion. The memory of that day never came back to Remy. With the New Order more on guard and running around, it felt best to stay hidden as long as he could. He knew his family could handle themselves without him for awhile longer. As he ended up taking a job overseas with no way of knowing how long it would last while keeping under the radar of the New Order.
His old life has seem to come back full swing in his old age while dealing with thefts and taking down a few bad guys overseas. Claude would know from being in the Assassin's Guild long enough is that it's not safe to contact family too much while out on a job/mission far away. It wasn't like Rogue would blame him for being gone for so long due to reasons she can't know. She had nothing to worry about. Remy would never cheat on her. Sure there were a couple of saucy women trying to woo him but he was smarter than that .
After his final job in Japan, Remy received word from Noa about how the North and South seemed to be playing out an reenactment of the Civil War. This caused him to realize that he's been away from home longer than he had thought. Several years too long and a need to get home to his family immediately. Once back on US soil, he headed back to New Orleans to find out more about the current situation and to face his family's wrath with being gone so long.

“Don't fret it, chere,” he said, casually waving off her rambling. “Everyone tends t' ramble from time t' time.” The Cajun followed along side her as they headed down the street. Of course following her lead on where they were going otherwise he'll get lost.
He wasn't too sure what to make out from he r stating how the weather seems to appear every day, so he kept quiet. That was not his place to say anything. He chuckled at how right he was with his assumption on this town being worse than L.A.
Pulling out a pack of cigarettes – quitting hadn't really worked out for him, but he has slowed down – Remy pulled out one, tucked it in between his lips, and lit the end with the tip of his finger with the use of his powers. A reason why he never needed to carry a lighter around while he smoked.
Making sure to keep the smoke from flowing over in Babs's direction, unsure if she would be able to handle it, he blinked up at the Java Hut as they finally made it. “Nice place, chere.” He took a puff on his cigarette, blowing the smoke away from his new companion. “Just may have t' try a cup of coffee 'ere from de way you make it sound.”
Walking up to the door, he made sure to put the last of the cigarette out in the metal sandy ashtray that was outside, opening up for Babs. “De coffee awaits, madam,” he said with a slight bow with a little smirk.
