' A b i l i t i e s

• Power [/color] | Shinobu has the mutant ability to see into the future which is also known as precognition. The timing of when he gets the visions is not controlled by him. Shinobu receives visions only when the situation involves himself or the people in the immediate area. Though his visions are not very far into the future like a lot of precogs. He can't see the future of tomorrow or of a further time line. Shinobu has a max range of only three minutes into the future. He has utilized this ability in a number of ways in the past to stay ahead of the game like a seasoned chess player.

For instance, in the future three minutes or less that a person is about to mug him, he can choose the best outcome for the situation to avoid having his possessions stolen or worse. When he receives his visions, it's as if he is experiencing them right there in the moment, playing through each scenario as necessary. And yes, his visions do include audio. Another way that he uses his precognitive abilities is during fights, the ones that he couldn't avoid to begin with.

Before a fight starts with him, Shinobu gets a vision of what exactly the attacker or attackers are going to try and do to him. When he sees the fight take place beforehand, it gives him a chance to analyze the best way to counterattack, coming with the sensation of when the opposing attacks will come. If Shinobu engages in a fight he will receive brief flashes of the next attack like a visual danger sense. This has saved his life many times over before. In order to get his precognitive visions, Shinobu does NOT have to be in a dangerous situation. Just one that involves him. Like playing blackjack, he knows what to bet how to bet and when to bet safely. Very useful with his lifestyle.
• Weapons [/color] | He will occasionally use a katana in battle, but he mainly uses his two butterfly knives and a Glock 18, and hide-a-chuck, miniature nunchaku that screws together into a baton.
• Weaknesses [/color] | As stated above, Shinobu has a limit to his visions, several really. He can not see far into the future or into the past at all. He can't witness things that are going to happen to him or the people in his immediate area tomorrow or an hour from the current time. He can only look three minutes into the future. Shinobu does not choose when he will receive a vision. That is up to his powers triggering in a situation where he has feelings of anxiety, fear, danger, curiosity, or confusion or something along those lines. Shinobu can not see the future of other people outright. The only way he can see the future three minutes of someone else is when they are around him. And even then it is only when he himself could be personally involved.

For instance a man walking into a bar to shoot it up in the next three minutes IF he sees the man and can decipher his body movements and tone. A person carrying a gun with the intent to kill is fairly easy for him to pick out due to his lifestyle and training. He would get the outcome of the situation since his own life would be jeopardized by the shooter. He can't see if the person next to him will win the lottery in the next three minutes if he isn't involved with that scenario. Although his powers offer him a way to avoid being shot, stabbed, or beat up, it is entirely possible to overwhelm him with attacks. Being surrounded by multiple attackers all attacking at the exact same time in different ways would make it hard for him to effectively avoid being injured or killed. Telepathic people are capable of shutting off his powers as well leaving him vulnerable.
• Skills[/color] | Shinobu's main way of protection is his body. By body I mean using martial arts. He does carry his butterfly knives with him concealed as to not get harassed by cops, but when he doesn't feel like killing a man he can rely on his martial arts to beat a man near the brink. Thanks to his father, he is skilled in the usage of a katana. By no means is he some samurai warrior of the utmost skill with a blade. His skill level with the blade is an intermediate level due to him not completely dedicating himself to the way of Bushido.

The two martial arts that Shinobu is a practitioner of Jeet Kune Do and Judo. He has been practicing these fighting styles ever since he was ten years old so he has a pretty good handle on them. He prefers Jeet Kune Do the most because it allows him to implement his own style and moves into it. He has not mastered either style and doesn't really plan on doing that either. He can defend himself adequately with the level of skill he already has. When taking on a multitude of opponents, he just goes balls to the wall and tries to inflict as much injury and punishment as possible before he inevitably gets his ass kicked. That's how Shinobu likes to do things.

• Overall Appearance[/color] | Shinobu is an individual that just loves to change up his hair style. Sometimes he can be seen rocking black, spiky hair then the next day his hair if orange or even blonde. He doesn't wear the same hairstyle for too long. He likes to keep his face clean and free of hair since he's not a fan of mustaches or beards. Shinobu is a bit on the thin side of the spectrum with lean muscles that are toned from years of fighting. He has a pretty boy look and he's fully aware of that matter.

Clothing wise Shinobu doesn't mind dressing up as some would call it. He will wear suits and whatnot on a regular basis if that's how he's feeling that day. He wears jeans and t-shirts, long sleeves and shorts, high collared shirts, the whole gamut. Shinobu also has a tattoo going up his entire left arm to display his loyalty to the Yakuza. Here is a picture of the tattoo to better illustrate. He has this tattoo on the right side of his neck as well.

• Overall Personality[/color] | Shinobu Goto is not a man with a complicated, twist and turn type of personality. He is a decisive man that knows exactly what he wants and how he wants it with no ifs, ands, or buts about it. If he wants to gamgle away all of the money on his person, that’s his business. If he decides to tread enemy territory, don’t even think about trying to stop him. With his young comes a real sense of arrogance and a hardheaded persona. Now that’s not to say that he thinks he knows everything because he is fully aware of the fact that there are things in this life that he doesn’t know about.

Shinobu may be arrogant and decisive, but he still has a sense of honor and respect. He holds those of a higher stature with respect and obeys their orders, even if they are ones that he does not agree with. He may dislike a Yakuza boss in his family, but he will still follow his words. Shinobu is a loyal man that will put his life on the line for his comrades, the people that he calls family. When it comes to taking care of business, he will gladly do things himself instead of sending his underlings to do all of the dirty work. Shinobu will occasionally run his mouth, but he will back it up completely. Aside from this, he is still only 23 years of age. He likes to enjoy life and live it with no regrets or baggage.

• Overall history[/color] | The Yakuza is the largest organized crime syndicate not only in Japan, but the world. Within the Yakuza are five principal families that nearly every member belongs to. One of these families is known as Sumiyoshi-kai run by a man named Daichi Goto. Daichi rose to the rank of Oyabun after many years of serving in a local gang within the Sumiyoshi-kai family called “Kuroi Tenshi”, Black Angel. After his marriage to a beautiful singer, Aoi Takiya, they produced one child together. This child was named Shinobu Goto.

Growing up as the son of a Yakuza boss meant many things. For one, Shinobu could get whatever his heart desired which was always nice. But it also meant that sometimes he could be a target for those jealous out there of his status. His father though always made sure that he was protected and that he kept him out of his business. Shinobu was fine with that. At the age of ten he began to study in the martial arts of both Judo and Jeet Kune Do, a more freestyle form, in order for him to defend himself whenever there was no one else around to help him out. Shinobu being the type of person that he is found scooping up the ladies to be a more fun thing to do than training. But his father made sure that he got the teachings that he needed, even teaching him the ways of Bushido.

Shinobu didn't really care much for Bushido, other than the fact that he got a sweet katana out of it. But to please his father and not disrespect him, he did as was instructed. When he was fourteen years old, Shinobu got the surprise of his life by way of mutation. It happened when he and a friend were about to sneak into an adults only bar run by a rival Yakuza family. Before they entered the building, Shinobu witnessed himself and his friend walking into the bar, getting into a brawl that was way out of their league, and then being shot dead. Shinobu immediately started patting himself checking for bullet holes. He tried to explain to his friend what just happened, but he didn't want to hear it. The boy entered the bar without Shinobu behind him. A minute later, he heard gunshots.

Shinobu fled the area freaked out at this occurrence. As he ran, he got another image of a car running him hitting him. Just as he reached the spot where he was suppose to be hit, the boy froze in place, the car speeding pass him. Shinobu made it home safely, but didn't tell his parents about what happened deciding to keep it to himself. With the high population of mutants around he made the correct assumption that he was a mutant. The next day during his martial arts training, he could see the attacks that his opponent was planning on doing beforehand. With this knowledge Shinobu avoided every move and countered with his own to win the sparring match. Wanting to test out his powers in other situations, Shinobu headed to the streets for some illegal gambling. And what do you know, he cleaned house.

As he got older, he used his powers more and more and more to get the things that he wanted out of life like money, women, and pleasures. When he was 18, his father turned over control of his old gang, Kuroi Tenshi, to him feeling that he was now responsible enough. Over the next three years Shinobu developed his gang, continued his gambling, cheating ways and serving the Yakuza faithfully. Hearing of the conflict going on in the states, Shinobu took it upon himself to move to the United States to establish another branch of the Kuroi Tenshi, taking advantage of the chaos all around.

Ahh Vegas. Las Vegas had to be one the most popular spots in the United States what with all its attractions and live shows. What most people came to Vegas to do was gamble, gamble, and gamble some more. That's exactly what Shinobu Goto had come to this gorgeous city to do. While the other casino patrons lost all their money playing the numerous games offered, Shinobu was on a hot streak. “21,” said the blackjack clerk. Shinobu laughed as he clapped his hands together in happiness. Again he'd won another round of his favorite game.

But to not raise suspicion, he did lose a few rounds every now and then. He didn't want to draw the attention of the security guards or anyone else of that nature. Tonight he just wanted to make some money, not get into a brawl... although he did have a few members of his gang with him for protection. ”Man I am cleaning house right now!” he exclaimed. Just as he was about to play another round when he paused. An image of the security coming to harass him flashed before his eyes. ”And on that note, I'm leaving. Boys,” he snapped his fingers and pointed to the chips. He was not about to be caught on this day. Damn casinos and their no counting rules... even though he wasn't counting but straight up cheating with future visions. No one but Shinobu knew that.

"He can see every possible outcome of a single action." This eliminates free will, generally precogs only see how the future will occur in a fluid motion i.e. the most probable outcome at that specific time. It looks like he's setting himself up to be able to auto-dodge everything. Knowing every outcome would would make his head explode or make him a jabbering wreck of a person and eliminate the prospect of free will, and we like our free will on this board.

Also you state that the power is basically triggered by the adrenal gland (fear, nervousness etc.), having a vision while he is in danger, but he then goes on to state that he would have a vision if his future self were in danger, e.g someone shooting up a bar he was in... This seems to me like you are getting mixed up. It is either a danger based response or not.

"He does carry around weapons at all times" And isn't arrested because?

Personality needs to be fleshed out. Now its just "He likes to have fun, gamble and trash talk" stretched out into 2 paragraphs. "His skill level with the blade is about average", since most of the world isn't trained in the katana, wouldn't "average" mean he has no skill with it? We understand precisely what you mean to say, you want to say "intermediate" or something like that. Average is something else altogether.

He's a Japanese, yakuza, trained to use a katana, doesn't care about anything or anyone, mouthing off badass. We think this charater is a little uninspired.

Modded and yes, I know Yakuza chars have been done before just like damn near every other one out there. But I have never had one and thought I'd try since I actually have been INSPIRED to do so.
