Death has swept over the United States as a war has erupted between normal humans and mutants. For five years there has been fighting between them, and many casualties from both sides have been buried. Neither side has made an attempt to stop, and those who have, became enemies of their once friends. The New Order was formed to protect civilians. Mutants who gave up their freedom to do do what the Government asks are mere puppets. They are monitored twenty-four hours a day on their activity. They have taken over New England, now called the New York Territory.
The opposition of the New Order is the Resistance. These mutants refuse to give in and obey the word of those who want to control them. They are the hope among mutants, and are feared by the normal humans. The Resistance includes many of the X-men's own children, though not all of them have joined. They reside in what is now called the Louisiana territory, which is what the Resistance has taken control of. Their main base is in New Orleans, while many others are also spread throughout the southern states.
S.H.I.E.L.D has created a secret division to also appose the New Order. Though very few of the first generation mutants survived the new strand of the Legacy Virus, there were still a few. They have become members of S.H.I.E.L.D and provide information and back-up to the Resistance. They are based within Canada.
With the war at its peak, and both sides gaining power within their followers, the biggest battle is yet to come.
