The time had finally come, the X-men or Resistance or whatever they were calling themselves, they had to go, arrested would be good, but dead would be better. The Forces had been prepared, from the specialist forces of the New Order to their more standard militant forces, enough soldiers to lay siege to a small town and an armoured unit of heavy jeeps and tanks to support. While they were not as well known for their use as, perhaps SHIELD, the New Order did make use of a very small number of them, now one of the mighty floating fortresses that was a Helicarrier was airborne, the Mansion within its sight, the army the New Order had gotten prepared marching into place on the ground below. A small fleet of helicopters and fighter jets moving around it, awaiting the order to attack.
The usual occupants of the X-mansion, the rest of the team had arrived via X-Jet some hours earlier. The X-men were in their old and true home, ready to stand and fight. They were outnumbered, vastly. But it didn't matter, they were the X-men, and they had the home advantage. SHIELD too had their present, their secret team. Ready to stand by the mutants who had been so terribly wronged in their lives.
Indeed, the stage was set for a battle that could very well determine the fate of the country.......
Claude was the De Facto Leader of the X-men in the absence of the more senior members, most of who were either dead or missing in action, as one might put it. While being the leader had its benefits, it also had its responsibilities and one of those responsibilities was keeping the others safe. That's what Claude was doing now, keeping the others safe. The X-men stationed in the LeBeau Mansion had flown to New York with all hast once they were ready, now here they were, in the ancestral home of the X-men, to protect it from people who feared and hated them.
"I'll be back in a minute." he informed as he left the safety of the mansion, well....it wouldn't be very safe if any of those tanks or jets decided to just bomb them into the ground, but they had defences against that. The mansion had its own defences, but those would really only hamper the infantry. Claude drove out, in a small jeep, to just beyond the gate before pulling the break and jumping out onto the front of the vehicle. He had asked Lily to put a field around him, so he knew he was safe from just being out right shot, but hopefully the NO would accept a little before battle parley.
He stared out at the wave of soldiers prepared to cave in his head with the butt of their rifles, the tanks and bullet proof jeeps. This was just peachy. His eyes just took it in for a moment. Then it was time to start. "Alright you bunch o'mutant hatin boys an'girls." he yelled at them, there was still quite some distance. "You be standin' here against the X-men at their own mansion....so I'm gonna be fair and give you one chance to surrender....or you'll have forced me to stop you." It was reasonable to him to offer a chance to surrender.
Looking around the building or even just the room alone spent an un natural chill through her walking in her foot falls almost echoed through the halls. She thought she could handle this but it was so very different from the house she had lived in that he gave a haunted vibe. Wrapping her arm around her body she walked with the other for a while before peeling of just to have a look in one or two small areas there where damp patches starting to grow. Walking down the hallway Renee pushed the door to the kitchen open and peeked her head around the door she knew that there had been a time where she had fun here, the back door to the garden had been let open so that the younger ones could run in and out to fill water balloons on hot summer days. Renee didn't walk in she moved back into the hallway not wanting to lose the group or her briefing.
For a while nothing seemed to happen, Renee had taken a seat on the floor her back against the wall her right leg propped up her left lying flat. She didn't speak what was there to say really she was scared now more than she thought she could be, Renee had been so sure that as soon as they came off the jet they would run to the front lawn take formation and get down to it no time to think. But time is what they had. Giving a sigh to herself Renee tilted her head back and rested it on the wall looking at the others. Then she heard it. Getting to her feet slowly Renee moved to a window and looked out.
There was no big dramatic event like the ground rumbling but the helicopters where getting closer "They have heliopters....fun" she muttered to herself wanting to peer out more but she had watched a few war movies and if they had snipers she didn't want her head in there sights. Hearing Claude say he would be back in a minute Renee turned and watched as he walked out "Is he mad?" she asked moving away from the window so she could see the door going silent again waiting to hear the sound of gun fire.
Rosalie gave a short laugh as she lit the cigarette, a mischievous glint in her eye for the first time since they arrived in New York"Some call it tha', Renee" She took a long drag on the smoldering cigarette before continuing "But if ah know Claude, and ah do, he's got an ace up his sleeve" Her deep green eyes flicked out of the window for a brief second, eying her brother, a small smirk quirking at the corner of her lips"If not'ta whole god-damn pack of 'em"
She pushed herself off the wall, checking and rechecking her weapons before she did anything, it was a little obsessive she had to admit. She hadn't even looked around the place since they arrived, just checking her weapons, that's how anyone who truly knew her, would know she was a bag of nerves. Some part of her really wanted to check the place where she spent most of her youth, but she would only get upset, and she couldn't afford to be upset right now.
Rozz couldnt help but think, if she were to die, this would be the place. This was where her mother died, and probably her father, so this is where she should die too. She gripped the bo staff tight, her eyes sought out her husband, if there was anyone who could make the morbid thoughts go away it was him. "You ready, baby?"
i'm a nightmare, a disaster. THATS WHAT THEY ALWAYS SAID.
i'm a lost cause, not a hero. BUT I'LL MAKE IT ON MY OWN.
He was going to get himself killed, was he suicidal? Aly thought to herself as she felt the sinking feeling in her gut, she shouldnt have come, she was only going to be a liability if she was constantly worrying about Claude. That and the fact she was about as weapon savvy as a gnat. She could already feel the cold beads of sweat on her neck, she tried to breathe, tried to focus on latching onto someone psionically but she was failing horribly. Aly knew that if she could just latch on to one person and drain them, she would be stronger. But knowing wasn't the same as doing.
"Get a fucking grip" She chided herself, pressing up against the wall next to the window, looking at the amassed tanks and helipads and soldiers, if Claude could do it so could she. Her eyes pooled black as she sent out her psionic feelers, sensing who had the weakest mind in the NO bunch, someone easy to prey on. She didn't act yet, just like a snake, she was coiled to spring into action.

"Are you sure you're up to this?" Laura asked seriously, she didn't doubt the young woman, not for one second, but since she became a mother, Laura had found herself asking questions like this a lot. It was probably the fact that she felt Lil was her responsibility, for as long as she was with her, and she didn't want to let her, or her parents down in not protecting their only child sufficiently. Its what they would do for Aislin.
Speaking of her daughter, X was less than pleased that Logan had brought her to this fight, it being her first. It was no way to introduce a child, though she wasn't really a child anymore, she was eighteen. She had to remind herself of that. But Ace was still her child, Logan was out of line, or at least that's what she was telling herself, to numb the guilt of not being there herself.
X stretched, as she watched the eldest LeBeau approach the troops from their vantage point in a room on the top floor of the mansion, he certainly had his fathers confidence, she hoped it wouldn't lead him to the same fate. Checking the rifles slung over her back, left by expired New Order agents, she nodded to Warstar "Ready?" It was both a statement and a question.
YOU TRUST, YOU MUST CONFESS IS SOMEONE GETTING THE BEST (the best, the best, the best of you?)
Abby did her best not to stray too far from the front of the house where almost everyone was gathered, but she really hadn't been able to resist poking around a little bit. After all, it was the famous Xavier mansion, or at least what was left of it. She had heard countless stories from both her parents about the time they spent here. God it was even the place the fell in love. The blonde had always pictured it in her mind, but neither her mom or dad ever brought her here, something she always regretted. She supposed it felt just a little strange to be at the house even now, especially as she tried to imagine her parent's lives here, despite its current state. And in truth, she still kind of could...this actually was the most connected she felt to her mom since her disappearance. So while she didn't have any personal ties to this place like some of the other resistance member, that feeling alone made it worth protecting, or worth risking her life for. This was still a home for a lot of people, and Abigail Guthrie wasn't about to let a bunch of stick-up-their-asses government types take it away.
Suddenly, the sound of helicopters begin to echo lightly throughout the house, and Abby took that as a sign that this little dance was about to begin. She quickly maneuvered her way to the front of the house, keeping her sense on alert as best as possible, though she had a small smile on her face, if nothing else just to offer reassurance to anyone she passed by. She stepped into the room where she saw some of her team members gathering, and her bright blue eyes followed their gaze out to the front lawn, where she spotted their fearless leader. The blonde peered out somewhat carefully, knowing that something probably could be thrown at them any minute, but she wanted to get a could look at the calvary. Abby let out a low whistle at the numbers. "Boy they do not spare any expense for the welcome wagon, do they?" she commented, mostly to herself, her tone as upbeat as always. 'Guess the show's about to being,' she added silently, flexing her hands.

Chris was sat cross legged in the bathroom in front of his two imaginary friends. “Hopper,” He began talking to the large rabbit, “I know you’re with me on this.” The large rabbit nodded silently as Chris turned to the yellow snake, “but Annabel, I need your help too, I can’t do this alone are you with me?”
The snake replied in a hissing sound that only Chris could hear, “What is it Toon Town, your favourite pet not enough on his own?” She replied in heavy sarcasm.
“Annabel please,” He replied, “You know Hopper isn’t my favourite, you’re both my friends. I told you I can’t do this without you, please, listen to me just this once.”
There was a pause from the snake, “All right, but just this once and if you let the Dark One out I’m out of here.”
“That’s all I ask” He stood up and walked to the front of the house, his two invisible friends close on his heals. People were already stood awaiting the battle. He didn’t say anything, he still didn’t know them all that well, so he sat down against a wall and hugged his knees. All there was left to do now was wait for the news.
"Well don't you all look so...adorable" Sara said as she rounded a corner onto the X Men memorial. She had on her iron leggings and gloves, the repulsors shining to a gleam. "And standing in the ashes of your fallen brethren. It's so heartwarming, I may just cry" she said as she dabbed at her eyes.
Her eyes flew over the mutants before her. Many she recognized, few she didn't. "We're tired of your games. Your 'saving' the mutant race and frankly we don't care for it. We'd much rather you menaces just upped and died." She said as she stepped onto the marble stone of the memorial, running her hand over an 'X' jutting from the ground.
"But of course you won't see it that way...so we'll make you open your eyes. Come to the light pretties."
With that she pressed a button on her iron arm guard. Loud, death metal music plummeted the air around her. A small smile lighting up her face as she harnessed the energy it gave her.
Small orbs of the light surrounding her as she stood in place. Around the corner more of her operation appeared.

*Cred goes to Aly/Rozz for a satisfied customer...yet AGAIN!!*
Barbara was next to Aly, in front of the mission. She was adjusting her boots when she heard the girl talk to herself.
"Oh darlin'. It's okay an' all. We'll get through all this. We won' let those damn yellowbellies get tha better of us. We're X Men. An' we're tha best damn thing since sliced bread" she finished as she cracked her neck.
She turned to look at the girl and was slightly thrown off. Her eyes were pooled black. Completely dark and no emotion in them. "Well then, if we're all on task, ah' betta' not lag behind." she said with a wicked gin as she cast her eyes to the fountain. That would be her main stay. Were all her power would be useful.
Just as she was about to make a dash for it, she was stopped by slow, sarcastic clapping. "What in tha?" she said as she turned her eyes on the New Order recruitment head.
Lily, otherwise known as "Warstar" was sitting upstairs, legs crossed as she sat on a table, gazing out the window towards the gathering storm of steel that was the New Order. She felt like it was that movie, Lord of The Rings, the second one, with Helms Deep (apparently those movies were based on really old books). She was breathing deep, really deep. It was, something of a Deja Vú moment, she'd done this before, although with a lot less preparation on their side last time, and no SHIELD back-up, so go team!
At the moment, she was keeping a protective field around Claude, so he could go out and parlay with the New Order, if they took a shot at him while he was out of cover, then she'd keep him safe. Then that girl arrived, the one with the Stark tech gloves and boots. "Hello Target!" Lily mused to herself....yeah you go ahead and wear metal to battle the Princess of Polarity (note to self, make up new nickname), lets see how that goes for yeah.

It was strange to be back; it was even stranger to see the Mansion, once so proud and meticulously kept, in such a shabby state. He wasn’t about to go poking around to find his old room, that was the past, and he’d rather remember it how it was, not the ruined state it was in now. But it certainly was a reminded of what the New Order could do, and his anger was simmering away, waiting for the fight to start.
Adrien was leaning against one of the walls, every few minutes going through the same ritual of checking his knives, then staff, body armour, and finally sunglasses. His sunglasses were perched on top of his head, once he unleashed his true power, he would be in danger of blinding himself, and as he’d learnt the hard way, it was hard to be an impressive mutant hero when you’re stumbling around blindly.
He narrowed his eyes at his wife as she lit up, he himself was more a casual smoker nowadays, and the amount she smoked sometimes was alarming. “Knowin’ your family, he’s makin’ it up as he goes along…” he commented, shaking his head at Claude’s antics.
He was glowing softly in the dim light, he’d absorbed as much light as he could without making himself dangerously ill, knowing he’d need to be at his full potential when the fight started. The soft glow emanating from him was just his body’s way of trying to ease some of the energy.
“Ready as I’ll ever be, chere,” he said in reply to Rozz, grabbing her hand and kissing her knuckles, letting her absorb some of his energy. She looked like she could use a boost; he knew what it cost her to return to this godforsaken place. He was only glad the rest of his family had stayed in New Orleans, it was bad enough having Rozz in this potential danger. But they were both trained for this; he couldn’t let his own relationships cloud his judgement in the field.
He heard a flurry of activity outside and groaned. “Sounds like somet’inks about to go down.”

Riley was finding it hard to regulate her breathing as she stood on the stablest part of the mansion roof with Shila, this no radio contact was even harder on her nerves than she anticipated, she could only hope that her dad could fast track the bureaucracy and get himself down here. Of course he could, he was awesome like that.
The teen gave a sidelong glance to Shila as Claude walked out, brazen as anything right out in front of the whole New Order army, well he hadn't changed at all since she last saw him. Though no emotion could be conveyed on her armor, the way she held herself said everything it needed to.
"Oh... peachy" She commented with a metallic twang as her sister, all dressed up in the Stark tech she shouldn't have, arrived, with all the melodrama she should've expected. What was Sara thinking? She was a mutant, if anything the sisters roles should be reversed. Riley was only a human, but she was raised better than this.
"Right, looks like showtime!" She pushed off into a run, expecting Shila to closely follow in her cute little birdy form. Riley gave a short repulsor burst as she ran out of roof, giving her just enough lift to land a couple of meters away from Claude. As she straightened her self up, she flicked her wrists to send out several of her proximity pulse clusters along the perimeter of the New Order troops, if anyone got close to them they would explode with a spiffy plasma explosion. Finally, she shot one at her sisters feet.
"Careful sis, they're nasty" Riley commented with a short laugh, taking a couple of steps back so she was positioned behind Claude, she didn't want to steal his thunder, or get caught in Warstars force field "May wanna tell your 'friends'..." She gave some overenthusiastic airquotes "They're trespassing" She let the comment hang before giving her sister the finger "Back-the-shit-off"
Viktor Creed lay dozing across the ruined couch that he'd been sat on not more than a few hours earlier for the little briefing that had been given to the new girl. If these kids wanted to get themselves all worked up over nothing right now that was their problem. If they were anxious and edgy now how the hell would they react when the bullets and bombs started flying? It had amazed him how many of them had been able to make it all the way to the mansion undetected, but hell he'd done it often enough in the past when it had been fully active, now as a simple shell of a hous it was probably even easier to get close to.
Sofar he'd avoided talking to anyone and even with his eyes closed, his other senses told him that people were moving about and that an old 'friend' had even pulled himself out of the woodwork. He'd been having quite a pleasent daydream involving the Howlett family and a butchers shop till the young cajun had started shouting at the army gathered outside.
"Wasting your breath boy"
He muttered to himself under his breath. He knew aswell as the rest of them that nothing that was said now would make any difference to what was taking place here. Brave or stupid he didn't care there wasn't much hope for a bunch of kids against what was outside. Hell, the NO had been taking out mutants for the last 30 years so they had a pretty good idea what they were doing. Fancy kit aside, he knew from experience that sheer weight of numbers was all that was needed to decide most conflicts.
The big man stretched, his legs flexing, the sofa creaking as the arms broke off and the frame collapsed leaving him laying on the ruined piece of furniture looking up at the ceiling with a scowl on his lips. Sitting up, Creed climbed to his feet and dusted himself off, walking slowly over to one of the windows as the light show began, wondering why they hadn't just flattened the place with an artillary strike, or at least softened it up before moving in so many ground forces...
When Sparkler put on her Death Metal music, it took it as something of a cue. She wasn't all that bad when she wasn't being a little tease. Gilgamesh, adorned in his black and red "hero" attire, came floating down from the clouds, but before he ever showed himself, he sent something else. A combination of his hard light constructs and his other energy manipulating powers. A giant beast of tendrils and snarls, it came down from the clouds like a titan of hate. The tendrils came down first, piercing the clouds over the Helicarrier, then Gilgamesh himself appeared, like the head of the beast.
It was emerging out of his back, from his legs, a deathly red glow emanating from his person, from his eyes, his mouth, his fists. "Fools.....pitiful fools. I'll kill every last one of you." The tendrils reached down towards the grounds, a pulse of forceful energy beating out as the searched for things to wrap around and snap, be it a tree of a person.
